About the Event
This year's Dyslexia Awareness Week, taking place from the 7th - 13th October, is focussed on the theme "What's your story?". In support of this week, Lexxic and the Business Disability Forum are partnering to bring you this special event!
Join our incredible panel of dyslexic professionals from differing backgrounds and careers as they dive into their personal stories—what makes them stand out, the hurdles they've overcome, and how the strengths they associate with dyslexia have empowered them in their careers.
Together, we’ll be discussing the highs, lows, and game-changing practices that make workplaces more inclusive.
Let’s celebrate the unique talents dyslexic employees bring, and explore how we can better support and empower them in the workplace.

Roshni Thakrar
Founder of Inclusiviteam, and Legal Counsel, podcaster, DEI speaker, mentor, Trustee and Governor to the PPI
I had an aspiration to work as a lawyer in the City, and I am so grateful to be able to further this dream. However, I had always felt that I had to work really hard to achieve my goals and faced many challenges and setbacks, along the way.
Some of those difficulties made sense for me when I obtained an adult diagnosis in 2022 of dyslexia. This diagnosis was warmly embraced as I was able to better understand myself. It also helped me understand numerous issues in workforces and how much needs to be done to support individuals who are neurodiverse reach their full potential. As such, I have been committed since my diagnosis to building my own platform and conducting neurodiversity advocacy, using my knowledge as a lawyer and, my own intersectional lens to champion this group of individuals especially.
My journey so far inspired me to start my own consultancy, Inclusiviteam shine a spotlight on what the challenges are to overcome and how to create psychological safety, how we can make things better whilst also shining a positive light on the unique skills we all possess and how we nurture talent.
I also talk about this truthfully and authentically on my podcast Prim Rose Light which covers mind, body and soul topics as well as things that I am very interested in. Hence, I have had some podcasts devoted to the subject of neurodiversity. Please do check it out, and give it a like, share and follow as we continue to cultivate a conscious community.
I really look forward to connecting with you all for this panel discussion.
Paul Taylor
Project Manager at ClwydAlyn
I’m a Project Manager working in social housing, but my journey here was anything but straightforward. Diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 7, I spent 25 years building a career in catering before being given the opportunity to completely change paths at 40. With no formal qualifications when I left school, I worked my way through catering college and eventually managed kitchens. However, my real turning point came later in life, when I transitioned into project management—earning certifications in PRINCE2, PRINCE2 Agile, and Lean Six Sigma.
At 44, I was also diagnosed as autistic, which has added a new dimension to how I understand myself and my work. My story is proof that no matter the obstacles, it’s never too late to rewrite your path and thrive. I’m passionate about sharing my experiences to inspire others who face similar challenges and to promote the power of inclusion in the workplace.
