About the Event

The theme for this year's National Inclusion Week (23rd - 29th September) is Impact Matters. This event will be focussed on exploring the importance of a neuro-inclusive workplace, and the impact this can have on your employees' wellbeing and the success of your business.

Join Helen Musgrove, Director of Psychological Consulting at Lexxic, and Kay Sargent, Director of Thought Leadership, Interiors at HOK, as they host a discussion around the practicalities and the benefits of designing for neuro-inclusive workplaces. This discussion is both backed by findings from recent research, and professional expertise in the field of neurodiversity.

Lexxic are a specialist psychological consultancy with clients around the globe, and leaders in empowering neurodiversity in the workplace. We believe that all minds belong, so it is our mission to inspire a world that supports and values the talents of neurodivergent minds, empowering individuals to be their best selves.

HOK is a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm. Over the past seven years they have undertaken continued research on the topic of designing for neurodiversity, sensory processing and cognitive well-being. To date there has been a dearth of research into creating inclusive scientific spaces, which is why HOK and Advanced Research Clusters (ARC) have teamed up to expand their research into how they design exploratory and scientific lab spaces to be more neuro-inclusive for all.

In this session we will be discussing:

  • HOK's research and findings on designing for neurodiversity, sensory processing and cognitive well-being

  • The benefits of neuro-inclusive workplaces, for both the employee and organisation

  • The barriers neurodivergent individuals may experience in physical working environments, e.g. related to sensory sensitivity, focus, social interaction and building navigation

  • The practical things that we can do to make existing physical working environments more neuro-inclusive

  • ...and more!

There will be some time available for audience Q&A.
