One Year as Group CEO: What I've Learned About Neurodiversity at Work
As I approach my one-year anniversary as Group CEO of Lexxic and Do-IT Profiler, I've been reflecting on what I have learned so far.
Awareness is turning into understanding
The first thing is how much the awareness of neurodiversity has grown, increasingly moving towards greater understanding. It has been inspiring to see some of the great initiatives organisations are putting in place to set genuinely inclusive strategies, train their managers and support the needs of their talent through occupational health assessments and implementation of effective adjustments.
There is still more to do
The second thing, is how much more we need to do, to better support our clients - both the organisations we advise and train, and the individuals we assess and coach. Internally, there is now little distinction, between Lexxic and Do-IT and over the next six months our aim to be one team for our clients too. This will give us an unmatched potential to marry deep psychological expertise, with the leading digital assessment and support platform. More importantly, it will enable us to offer a wider range of solutions that are focussed on practical needs, in a much more cost effective way for our clients - making our capabilities more accessible.
A shift towards practical, implementable support
I mentioned practical needs, and this is key in the wider sense, with a shift from a focus on expensive and complex diagnoses, to one on the needs of the individual and implementable adjustments in the workplace. Our psychologists are on hand to help whenever needed, but there will also be an increased opportunity to offer our clients tools to better manage their own inital evaluations.
Building internal capability, together
As awareness moves to genuine understanding, and the focus on talent continues to be key, it's only logical that organisations will develop more internal capability with respect to neurodiversity in the people plans - we'll be right there to support and be an extension of those teams.
